Warehouse & Co. x John Gluckow PX Poplin Shirt Olive
John Gluckow is back creating high quality vintage inspired garments in collaboration with Japan’s esteemed Warehouse & Co. A serious vintage collector and expert from America’s East Coast, John’s collections are inspired by his vintage archive and personal style with close attention to fabric & design.Â
The John Gluckow PX Poplin Shirt from Warehouse & Co is based on 1960’s Vietnam era private purchase poplin field shirts. They were patterned on the classic GI OG-107 but with some improvements to fit and how they looked and tended to be made in the lightweight poplin that jungle uniforms utilised for warm climates.
This example from the John Gluckow collection by Warehouse & Co is a fine example of this style of shirt. Cut in Japan from a sulphur dyed, selvedge cotton poplin, the JG-07 Shirt features two chest pockets with button closure as well as a button front. All buttons used are original tonal nut buttons, while the shirt is adorned with patches, similar to those that adorned John Lennon’s OG-107 Poplin Shirt.Â
The patches are hand embroidered and are inspired by examples of theatre sewn patches found on original pieces.Â
