Vintage 1940’s Rabhor Beacon Diamond Pattern Blanket Robe (gown)
The Beacon Manufacturing Company was once the largest blanket manufacturer in the world and today, many Beacon blankets are collector’s items.
These blankets and loungewear were often sold at leading stores like Sears Roebuck & Co, Montgomery Ward, J.C. Penny and many other leading dry goods stores.Â
We’ve managed to source one of these beauties possibly from the very late 1930’s but most probably early 40’s. Cut to the shape of their standard Blanket Robes or Gowns, these were typically made for loungewear at home and would sometimes come with the slippers to match.
This example of a Rabhor Beacon Blanket has all the signature markings present, like the intricate pipe stitching throughout the shawl collar and front as well as the pockets. Two patch pockets and a single chest pocket complete this classic piece of loungewear.Â
Please note this is a piece of vintage clothing and does show some signs of use and wear. Markings of note include:
- Shoulders slightly dis-colouredÂ
- slight stain on the inside at the mid back
- Small fray near the piped seam of the inside right armhole
