One Ear Brand Operation Mindfuck Turkey Red Bandana
Started by Osaka based Bandana connoisseur, Jonathan Lukacek, the One Ear Brand aims to be much more than just a bandana brand. Using custom made fabrics, One Ear Bandanas are made entirely in Japan, printed one at a time meaning that each is slightly different from the last. Inspired by the big “Turkey Red” bandanas of the 1800’s, these bandanas are designed for more than just accenting an outfit; they make great Eco-Bags, Face Masks, Scarves, Furoshiki (Traditional Japanese Wrapping Cloths), Head Wraps and much more. With the Bandana as her canvas each piece is drawn by one artist, Japanese- American- Yurika Cherise Shikai.
Born in the late 60’s early 70’s, “Operation Mindfuck” was part art project-part prank. Created by Kerry Thornley, co-founder of a satiric religion called Discordianism and a Discordian Writer at Playboy Magazine, Robert Anton Wilson.
The purpose of “Operation Mindfuck” was to assign any conspiracy or unexplained phenomena to the Illuminati, who were a 1700’s Bavarian Enlightenment-era secret society, thereby creating national paranoia.
Using an authentic 1800’s Turkey Red bandana as a reference for the colour, One Ear Brand worked closely with the dyeing factory to accurately replicate the original.
