Anatomica Pea Coat Long Navy
Redefining classic Americana style through both their European and Japanese lenses, Anatomica meticulously adapt styles, production & function to create clothing designed for regular wear with optimised fit.
The Pea Coat is one of the many iconic pieces of Military & Naval issued clothing that has transcended the battlefield. These styles have remained relatively unchanged and what was once outerwear won by sailors has become a wardrobe staple.
Based on outerwear initially worn by sailors from the Netherlands, Great Britain and the US, the common denominator for all three countries adopting the Pea Coat was the need for a durable piece of outerwear that could withstand the harsh elements typically experienced at sea.
This Long Pea Coat from Anatomica is based on a pre-1930’s issued coat worn by the U.S. Navy and takes inspiration from the famous Bridge coat usually reserved for high-ranking officers.
Cut in Japan from a soft yet sturdy blend of satin melton wool, the Pea Coat features the signature double-breasted front as well as two flap pockets, two higher hand-warmer pocket and two interior pockets. The custom made 13 star anchor buttons are made exclusively for Anatomica and will age nicely with wear. The ‘Ulster’ collar is one of the Pea Coat’s unique features and can be worn all the way up to protect the wearer from the cold and has the addition of a chin strap.
