Since Max Verstappen won the 2016 Spanish GP in his first race for Red Bull, the writing was on the wall for him to challenge the Mercedes in the not too distant future. Each season, Red Bull and Verstappen edged ever closer to topping Mercedes, and they finally made it to the top for 2021.Â
The RB17b and W12 were both fantastic racing machines, and the drivers behind the wheel were just as incredible. This was the most gripping championship battle in recent F1 history. Whilst the battle in 2007 & 2008 was comparable, was the rivalry as intense?Â
